“Tunka Çewir” cümle, metin ve web tarayıcısı düzeylerinde hizmet veren bir İngilizce-Türkçe çeviri programıdır. Program dilbilimsel temelli olup özel bir feature structure, 200.000'e yakın kayıttan oluşan bir lexicon, amaç ve kaynak dillerin dilbilgisi kurallarını temsil eden kurallar seti ve cümle analizi yapan bir parser bölümünden oluşur.
Çeviri işlemine cümle dilbilgisi yapısını inceleyerek başlayan program otomatik ve etkileşimli çeviri ile en doğru çözümü bulmayı amaçlayan bir yapıya sahiptir. Çeviri aşamasındaki etkileşim süreci sonucunda amaç dile çevrilen cümleler en geniş anlamdan en özel anlamına kadar sıralanarak kullanıcıya sunulur. Böylece oluşan çevirinin metin bütünlüğü sağlanmaktadır.
Programın Web Tarayıcı Çeviri bölümü ise Internet Explorer’in tüm özelliklerine sahip olup İngilizce Web sayfalarının Türkçe’ye sayfa yapısı bozulmaksızın çevrilmesini gerçekleştirir.
